  1. First, log-in to Sparks AR Studio by using a Facebook account that is already connected to an Instagram account on your smartphone.
  2. Prepare the object in the form of a background image pattern (such as a sticker) in PNG format.
  3. After that, open the Spark AR Studio application that is already installed on the computer. If so, select the Create Project option.
  4. When a new project is created, you will see the Scene section on the left. Select the Add Object option. Then proceed to choose the Face Tracker feature.
  5. Click Insert, then you will find a new object called FaceTracker0 in the Scene section. Right-click on the object, then select the Add option and proceed to select Face Mesh to add a 3D model that will respond to the face, then tracked by Face Tracker.
  6. Next you can add material in the form of PNG images that have been prepared into the Face Mesh. Click the bottom part of FaceMesh0 that appears in the Scene section. Then shift to the Inspector (menu bar on the right).
  7. In that section, look for the Material menu, then click the Plus (+) icon next to it. Automatically, Material0 will appear in the Assets section (which is at the bottom of the scene).
  8. Click the asset, then change the Shader Type in the Inspector to Face Paint by clicking the dropdown menu next to it. Then, click the Choose File button on the side of the Texture menu, and select the image that has been prepared.
  9. Finally, save the project that was created and give it the name you want. To try it, you can click the Send button (arrow pointing to a box), then select Send to App.
  10. After that, click the Send button on the Instagram camera section and wait until the process is complete. If successful, then you will get a notification from your Instagram account.
  11. You can upload it also to Spark AR Hub to release it on Instagram. If the new AR effect meets the requirements, then all Instagram users can try it.
